wow! what a cool contrast of the element in this painting: death vs livelihood, dark vs bright, tough vs tender, ying and yang... indeed a great art worth a thousand of words. love!!!
Thanks. I've had a big thing for the combo of skulls and flowers, it's a new subject matter that I'm trying out and think I might stick with for quite a while. It's nice to know that people actually find it as interesting as I do.
skull in watercolor...first time i think i've ever seen that combo. i dig it. for getting a better photo of it, maybe try getting a good, bright ambient light source...not something aimed at the painting.
the shadow in his eye socket is beguiling as is his subtle grin.
I love skulls, and I love watercolors so it seemed like a logical connection to me! I'm glad the shadows come across well, it's kinda hard to get colors that richly dark with watercolors and it really was a challenge for me. Thanks for the photo taking tips, they're really helpful!
